Apple launches virtual key for wirelessly unlocking your car in iOS 14, Is your Car supported?

Apple has recently released the new iOS 14 in WWDC 2020 with tons of features and improvements. One of the features introduced in iOS 14 is the Virtual/Digital key which enables users to wirelessly unlock their car from iPhone.

This feature will work over NFC and Apple also mentioned the company is working on an industry-wide standard that would use its new U1 ultra wideband chip which will replace NFC in the future.

The first car to support is the 2021 BMW 5 Series which is coming next month. Once you have paired the Car with the iPhone you just need to hold your device near NFC radar to unlock the car. You can also enable FaceID or Passcode by disabling the Express mode toggle.

This feature will also work with no network connection and works up to 5 hours after the phone battery ran out. You can also share the car key via the Messages app and also can limit the features or access such as limiting acceleration, top speed and more. Apple also said they won't keep data about sharing your car and when you access your car.
